Puno - 15/10/2008

From Cusco we headed south to Ponu, We decided to extend the trip by going in a tourist bus which stops in several places.

In Andahuaylillas we saw a beautfull colonial church, at Raqchi we saw an ancient temple dedicated to eh Wiracocha god if the Incas and in Pukara we saw ruins and museum with the first sign of civilized culture from 4000 B.C.

Arriving to Puno, we arranged a trip to Titicaca lake for next day and enjoyed nice dinner and traditional dancing with guys we met in the bus.

Lake Titicaca, 3812 m above see level,  is the commercially navigable lake in the world. It is on the border of Bolivia and Peru. The boat trip in the lake took us to 2 of its islands:

Taquile - a island with a small village.  A good chance to learn about the traditional cloth and enjoy a grilled trout.

Uros – a unique group of artificial islands made made out of the Totora reed. The people that live on these islands, do almost everything from this plant.
